Upselling
Upselling, as shown here, is a Tebex Checkout only feature and will not work on Legacy stores.
Upselling allows you to display products during the checkout flow, giving customers the opportunity to add more products to their basket, therefore increasing the average basket value and maximising revenue.
Upselling to customers during the checkout flow.
Products that are offered to customers as part of an upsell can also be sold at a reduced price, this encourages customers to take advantage of the discount by adding it to their basket.
All purchasability checks (such as required packages, user limits, global limits etc.) are done before displaying the products, ensuring that the products offered to the customer can be added to the basket.
Subscription products, and products using 'pay what you want' pricing cannot be upsold.

Webstore-wide Upselling

There are two ways to enable upselling across an entire webstore; you can upsell the top products, or you can specify recommended packages that will be displayed to customers instead.

Top Products

Upselling top products is the easiest way to get started with upselling, we'll automatically display the most popular products to the customer during the checkout flow, prompting them to add them to their basket.
  1. 1.
    Go to Engagement > Upselling.
  2. 2.
Enable the Upsell Top Products setting at the top of the page.
Once enabled, the top three most popular products will be upsold to customers. If the customer already has one of the products in their basket we'll automatically find the next most popular product instead.
To have greater control over the packages that are displayed to customers during the checkout flow, you can manually configure webstore-wide recommended packages. Specifying at least one recommended package will disable top product upselling.
  1. 1.
    Go to Engagement > Upselling.
  2. 2.
Click the Add Recommended Package button.
  3. 3.
Select the package you wish to upsell to customers.
  4. 4.
Optionally enter an offer price for this recommended package. The offer price will be used instead of the package price, allowing you to provide a discount.
  5. 5.
Click Add to add the recommended package.
Once recommended packages have been configured, three will be randomly chosen and shown to customers during the checkout flow.
We recommended adding at least 5 recommended packages because some customers may not be eligible for certain packages, therefore having alternatives is advised.

Package Upselling

In addition to webstore-wide upselling, you can also configure upselling on individual packages. This allows you to upsell different packages depending on what the customer has in their basket, or prompt the customer to increase the quantity of a package.
To setup package upselling, please edit a package and navigate to the Upselling tab.
The Upselling tab within the package editor.
There are three types of upselling on packages; Additional Product, Increase Quantity and Alternative Product - each has slightly different behaviour. When a customer adds this package to their basket we'll randomly select three of the specified upsells and display them to the customer.
If no package specific upsells have been setup for the products in the customer's basket, we'll automatically fallback to use the webstore-wide upsells mentioned above.

Additional Product

An additional product upsell allows customers to add other packages to their basket when they're going through the checkout flow. If you have two packages that are often purchased together or compliment each other, this is a perfect use for the additional product upsell. The following options are available for additional product upsells:
  • Image - Optionally upload an image to use when displaying this package in the checkout flow.
  • Package - The package that should be offered to the customer.
  • Offer Price - Optionally provide a discounted price for the selected package.

Increase Quantity

The increase quantity upsell encourages customers to increase the quantity of the current package. Increase quantity upsells have the following options:
  1. 1.
Image - Optionally upload an image to use when displaying this package in the checkout flow.
  2. 2.
Quantity - The quantity of this package that will be added to the customer's basket if they select this upsell.
  3. 3.
Offer Price - Optionally provide a discounted price per quantity of the current package. For example, the upsell will cost $50.00 if the quantity for this upsell is 10 and the offer price is $5.00 (10 x $5.00).

Alternative Product

Alternative product upsells give customers the option of replacing the current package with a different one, often a higher priced package. The following options are available for alternative product upsells:
  • Image - Optionally upload an image to use when displaying this package in the checkout flow.
  • Package - The package that should be offered to the customer as part of this upsell. When this upsell is selected by a customer, the current package will be removed from their basket and this package will be added instead.
  • Offer Price - Optionally provide a discounted price for the selected package.

Legacy Tebex

It is possible to code your own version of Upselling into your custom template, but please note this is not something a novice should attempt as advanced programming knowledge is required. As with other customisations, we are unable to guide you or provide advice regarding implementation. The packages that you display will need to be manually added to your template, and this will need adjusting any time you want to change your packages.
