📅Subscription Stability and Growth
Learn how we improved retention, reduced churn, and achieved sustainable subscription growth.
🛠️The Issue
Background:
A top FiveM Script Seller creates FiveM scripts for Grand Theft Auto V, which are built on the FiveM platform. With a team of three, they have a wide reach and maintain a healthy month-over-month revenue volume. They have a global customer base, with a normal game industry average payment and a frequent base of script buyers keen on buying their next new release.
The Problem:
The seller faced a critical issue with their subscription packages, "Creators Plan" and "Master Plan." Despite being a subscription, the pricing was around 50% more than it should be, and the offering was unclear and ineffective. As a result, these subscriptions weren’t selling, and the lack of subscription revenue left the business heavily reliant on fluctuating one-time purchases, which can lead to developer burnout and stress.
Why It Was Critical:
Without stable, recurring revenue from subscriptions, the seller struggled to maintain a predictable income stream, relying instead on constant sales generation. This created an ongoing "cat-and-mouse game" that made it difficult to maintain steady business operations, increasing stress and reducing focus on growth and innovation, which is imperative in a constantly evolving FiveM community.
🗺️The Plan
Tebex's Role:
As part of the Success Team's efforts, which includes dedicated Success Managers and direct lines of contact for Tebex and the seller, we quickly reviewed and identified this overreliance during their regular meetings or "MBRs" (Monthly Business Reviews) and immediately brought it to the seller’s attention.
A periodic topic item in the MBRs is a SWOT analysis, in which we identify Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, and subscription revenue was a point mentioned.
The Success Team then worked on numerous solutions to mitigate this by leveraging their skills, experience, and understanding of the Creator's infrastructure/team.
The Solution:
Tebex conducted a deep dive into the seller’s product messaging and researched market trends for FiveM script subscriptions. The team found that the subscription adaptation was too low because pricing was too high, and the messaging lacked appeal, making it difficult to generate excitement among potential buyers. In response, Tebex reworked the subscription messaging and trialled a sale to gauge interest and boost subscription sign-ups.
💯The Results
Following the changes, the seller saw a 33% increase in subscription sales in 30 days. This surge in subscribers stabilized revenue and provided additional perks to subscribers, such as priority buyer support and more visible Discord ranks, increasing their buyer loyalty, recognition, and engagement. As of the time of this article, 30% of their monthly revenue comes from subscriptions, which is growing to reduce reliance on one-time purchases and improve overall business stability.
Creator Feedback: The seller was surprised by the growth. While no specific quotes were provided, they have consistently shown excitement and appreciation in monthly one-on-one calls with the Tebex team.
Creator Success Benefits
